They originated from India in the 6th and 7th century and were introduced to Europe through the writings of the Eastern Mathematicians, especially Al-khwarizmi, and Al-Kindi about 12 century.
There is no one who does not use
numbers. And there’s no one on whom numbers have not been used. I hear you say

easily. Without numbers to show the quantity of fuel in your tank, the vehicle
may stop at place you least expect; causing you to either go late or absent
from your program. Proper reading of numbers here will avoid embarrassment. Without
numbers on the speedometer, you can easily have an accident because there will
nothing to help you regulate your speed during driving. You may have to pay
several fines to the police for over speed. You may even go to meetings late
because of a lack of system to help you estimate your speed. Without numbers,
it will be difficult to estimate how much to use on fuel and many things about
your car. Numbers help you run your car safely.
Ø .Keeping of financial records will be
difficult in financial institutions like banks, credit unions and others. That
is why most of these institutions mostly employ people with knowledge of
accounting and financial management. Knowledge of numbers being the foundation
of all.
Ø The process of life. From conception
to delivery, numbers are in the center of all. Numbers play a reminder role in
timing baby’s growth and when the mother takes medication.
Ø In house, road, bridge and other
construction works numbers make it easy to estimate and realize the project
with little or no stress.
Ø Numbers make it easy to make
telephone calls as well as select television channels and get information.
Numbers also help you tune your radio to the appropriate station to listen to
news.
Ø Numbers help you to read books, stop,
and continue because of the numbering on the pages. You can easily make
quotation without fear or doubt if you master the page’s number.
The benefits of numbers are quite
